How to Audition

How to Audition for a
Marilyn Izdebski Production

BE PREPARED:

        •    Choose an uptempo, happy, personality filled song.
(“Tomorrow” is not a good choice unless you
             are auditioning for "Annie".)
        •    Know the lyrics of your song.
        •    Choreograph/Stage your song.
        •    Practice your song in front of everyone you know!

THE DAYS OF THE AUDITIONS:

         •    Come dressed appropriately.
         •    Do not come dressed in costume (for example, do not wear an
Annie costume even if you really want to audition for Annie!)
         •    Have your hair off your face!
         •    Wear appropriate shoes—no flip flops!

WHEN YOUR NAME/NUMBER IS CALLED:

        •    Walk onstage confidently!
        •    State your name, age and grade confidently!
        •    Sing loudly!
        •    Sing with enthusiasm!
        •    Do the choreography for your song—don’t just stand there and sing!
        •    SMILE!!!  HAVE FUN!!!

AFTER YOU SING:

        •    Learn a short dance that we will teach you!
        •    Take home and look over scenes from the show that you will be asked to read on the second day.

SECOND DAY OF AUDTIONS:

        •    All the above plus:
        •    Say the lines in the scene with lots of characterization & enthusiasm!
        •    Read every role and every line the very best you can!!!
        •    SMILE!!!  HAVE FUN!!!
